Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under standing order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Alan Shatter — the circumstances which gave rise to the making available of facilities in Dublin Castle this week to Monsieur Le Pen and party; if the arrangement entered into will be cancelled; (2) Deputy Gerry Reynolds — if the Minister for the Environment will have a planning authority set up to oversee the development of afforestation throughout the country; (3) Deputy Michael Moynihan — the dispute between the Office of Public Works and Flesk Valley Rowing Club regarding the threat of eviction from their boathouse by the Office of Public Works; (4) Deputy Pat McCartan — the implications of the judgement of the Supreme Court given on 12 February in the Gallagher case and the urgent need for the Government to act as a result of the decision; (5) Deputy Ted Nealon — the refusal of the Department of the Environment to provide full funding for the repair of defective chimneys in certain category local authority houses in Cranmore Estate, Sligo and the unfair conditions being imposed by the Minister where full funding is provided; (6) Deputy Joe Sherlock — the reported proposals to close the post office in Bartlemy, County Cork; (7) Deputy Eamon Gilmore — the exclusion of Dún Laoghaire Harbour from the operational programme on peripherality; (8) Deputy Philip Hogan — The need for the Minister for Industry and Commerce to give greater powers to the Director of Consumer Affairs and Fair Trade to investigate unfair trading in the bakery industry; (9) Deputy Nuala Fennell — The imbalance in lottery funding as between Irish girl guides who received £5,500 and scouting organisations which received £330,000 in 1990; (10) Deputy Sean Ryan — the outcome of the Department of Health's discussions with the Eastern Health Board regarding the need for a new health centre in Swords, given the conditions that exist in the present facility; (11) Deputy Michael Finucane — if the Minister for Labour can intervene in the ongoing lock out situation at McCormack's Joinery in Ardagh, County Limerick to resolve the present impasse in this situation, as unnecessary financial hardship is being caused to the workers; (12) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the threatened closure of Father McVerry's hostel for homeless teenage boys in Ballymun and the growing problem of homelessness in Dublin and throughout the country; (13) Deputy Michael Creed — the hardship being inflicted on the agricultural community due to delays in payment of all forms of agricultural grants; and the failure of the Department of Agriculture and Food to respond adequately to same.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: Deputy Alan Shatter, Deputy Michael Moynihan and Deputy Pat McCartan.
