30 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will outline the policy he has in operation for retaining and destroying important documentation; and if the same guidelines, if any, are applicable to semi-State bodies such as Bord Fáilte; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
My Department's policy regarding the retention and destruction of documentation is governed by the requirements of the National Archives Act, 1986, and the regulations made thereunder in 1988. These requirements apply only to the records of Departments of State. They do not apply to public service organisations, which include State-sponsored bodies such as Bord Fáilte.
