Question:50 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he had any direct communication with the President of the USSR in relation to the problems of food distribution in the USSR.
Written Answers. - EC Food Aid to USSR.
I presume the Deputy is referring to arrangements to be made to ensure that distribution of Community food aid for the needy in the Soviet Union reaches those for whom it is intended. The draft regulation which would give effect to the Community's decision to provide food aid of 250 million ECU, is under consideration by the European Parliament. The Commission have made clear that they will insist on nominating outside observers to carry out on-the-spot monitoring of the distribution of this aid.
