Vol. 405 No. 3

Written Answers. - Caherciveen (Kerry) Castle.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

148 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance if he will carry out measures to prevent further damage to Ballinskelligs Castle, Caherciveen, County Kerry.

Ballinskelligs Castle is not in State care and, therefore, the Commissioners of Public Works are not empowered under the National Monuments Acts to incur expenditure on its maintenance or conservation.

The castle, which has been much altered and has no unusual features or elements, would not be considered suitable for taking into State care.
