Vol. 405 No. 3

Written Answers. - Upper Merrion Street (Dublin) Properties.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

29 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate when the properties at Upper Merrion Street, which were put up for sale on the instruction of the Government, will finally be disposed of; when construction and redevelopment will take place; the net sum of money which will be received by the State for these properties; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Nos. 21 to 23, 25 to 33 Upper Merrion Street are currently for sale on the open market. It is not possible to say when the houses will be sold or how much the sale will realise. Redevelopment of the properties must be completed as soon as possible, but not later than five years, after the completion of the sale.

The houses are being offered for sale by way of fee farm grant, the terms of which provide for all the requisite conservation and preservation aspects.
House No. 24 is not included in the sale. The future of this house will be decided by the Government.
