Question:145 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will outline the list of traffic rights refused to Aer Lingus since 1985 by other EC states.
Written Answers. - Air Traffic Rights.
The traffic rights refused to Aer Lingus by other EC member states since 1985 are as follows: (i) fifth freedom rights on Dublin-Manchester-Milan were refused by the Italian authorities in 1988. The rights have now been granted by the Italian authorities on foot of the adoption of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2343/90 of 24 July 1990 on market access and capacity sharing on scheduled air services between member states; and (ii) fifth freedom rights for all-cargo services were refused by the British authorities during 1989 on the following routes: Dublin-Birmingham-Brussels, Dublin-Manchester-Brussels and Dublin-Manchester-Amsterdam.
These rights are now available to Aer Lingus under the provisions of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 294/91 of 4 February 1991 on the operation of air cargo services between member states.
