Question:

148 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications the numbers employed in Aer Lingus in each year since 1985; and if he will give a breakdown between the total figures and employment on each aspect of Aer Lingus's air transport operation.

The air transport operations of the Aer Lingus Group are divided between Aer Lingus, which operates services on the domestic, UK and continental routes and Aerlínte, which operates services on the North Atlantic routes. The following table shows the average weekly number of staff employed in both companies for the past five financial years, ending at 31 March in each year:
