Written Answers. - Bus/Rail Operating Costs.

Ivan Yates

Question:

152 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will give details, either through the figures from his Department or through CIE, of the profit and loss on bus routes operating under the auspices of the following: (a) Dublin Bus and (b) Bus Éireann; if he will outline which routes have the greatest social cost; and which routes are viable.

Question:

153 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if his Department or CIE have any detailed analysis of the profit loss, or social cost of each individual mainline railway service; and if he will give details of the revenue and expenditure for each route in each year since 1985.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 152 and 153 together.

The detailed information sought by the Deputy is of significant commercial value and as such cannot be publicly disclosed.
