Question:

55 Mr. Yates asked the Taoiseach if he will outline the number of licensed hauliers operating domestically in Ireland; the number employed by same; the vehicle fleet in each year since the liberalisation of the road freight industry; and the level of activity in international haulage and its proportion of the total.

The following tables, which are derived from the licensed hauliers survey and the road freight transport survey, set out the information requested by the Deputy:
