Vol. 405 No. 4

Written Answers. - PMPS Shareholders.

Peter Barry

Question:

90 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been drawn to the fact that many of the shareholders in the PMPS believe that, due to the inaction of the Government, many of their investments were put at risk and consequently lost, (2) a judge recently awarded them 62 per cent of their claim and (3) these shareholders now believe that the Government, because of their inaction, should give them the balancing 38 per cent; and the action he proposes to take on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my statement in this House on 18 December 1990 in response to Question No. 39 — Vol. 404, Cols. 145-6 of the Official Report — and to the response given by my predecessor on 1 December 1989, to Questions Nos. 54 and 56 — Vol. 385, Cols. 137-140 of the Official Report. I have nothing further to add to these statements.
