Vol. 405 No. 6

Mervyn Taylor

Question:

179 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Education if she has received representations from the parents' association of a community college (details supplied) in County Dublin regarding the urgent need for the completion of the home economics room in the school; and, in view of the representations made, if she will confirm that authorisation will be issued to the builder to complete this aspect of the work as a matter of urgency; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Written Answers. - Jobstown (Dublin) Community College.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

182 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the implications for students of Jobstown community college, Dublin 24 of the home economics room not being brought forward in the building schedule; the steps she proposes to take in the matter; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 179 and 182 together.

Representations have been received requesting that the scheduled date for completion of the home economics facilities in the new building for Jobstown community college be brought forward. The matter has been examined and it was found that the time which could be gained would not be sufficient to warrant interfering with the terms of the contract and the builders construction programme at this stage of the work. The construction of the new school is on schedule and is due for completion in September 1991.

It is understood from the County Dublin VEC that satisfactory arrangements have been made for the pupils pending completion of the building.
