Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case:

(1) Deputy Therese Ahearn — if the Minister for Education will make a statement of her plans to ensure that Cashel will have proper education facilities immediately, in view of the legal difficulties which have now arisen in relation to Cashel Community School, further delaying this badly needed project.

(2) Deputy Michael Moynihan — the decision of the Minister for the Marine in granting permission to Salmara Fisheries Ltd. to double their output from fish farms in the Kenmare River in view of impending court proceedings relating to this matter.

(3) Deputy Toddy O'Sullivan — if the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications will make a statement on the numerous reports concerning the intentions of Bord Telecom to change their pricing structure; if, he will outline the implications of such changes for (1) the elderly, (2) persons living alone and (3) voluntary groups such as the Samaritans or Childline; if he will further outline the consequences for industry and for families; and the steps he has taken to ensure that all these factors are taken into account by Telecom before final decisions are taken.

(4) Deputy Gerry O'Sullivan — the proposed increase in fees at UCC which would cause hardship to many students and their families.

(5) Deputy Padraic McCormack the question of the proposed new school for mentally handicapped at Snipe Avenue, Newcastle, Galway.

(6) Deputy Patrick J. Sheehan the serious situation and the air of uncertainty, that appertains in relation to Ireland's application to the EC for the extension of the disadvantaged areas; and, if the Minister for Agriculture and Food will inform the House the exact position in this regard.

(7) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan the problems facing many Irish athletes preparing for the 1992 Olympics because of the failure to provide promised funding by the Government in the budget.

(8) Deputy Eric Byrne the problems created by underage car drivers and the difficulties faced by the Garda in dealing with this matter.

(9) Deputy Pat McCartan the restoration of walkie-talkie radios to mobile patrol members of An Garda Síochána while on duty in the Dublin area.

(10) Deputy Eamon Gilmore the proposed location of an interpretative centre in the Wicklow mountains by the Office of Public Works.

(11) Deputy Proinsias De Rossa the continuing industrial dispute at River Valley Products, Finglas, Dublin.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: (1) Deputy Proinsias De Rossa; (2) Deputy Therese Ahearn; (3) Deputy Toddy O'Sullivan.
