Vol. 405 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cavan Agri-Office.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

62 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of the 150 positions promised in the new agri-office in Cavan which have been filled and when the remaining posts will be filled; if his attention has been drawn to the long delay in having business transacted in this office, because of the serious understaffing; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The position is that four work areas of my Department have been decentralised to Cavan. The number of staff associated with these areas, including ancillary services, was 120. There are a further 23 staff in my Department's local office in Cavan. No further staff can be accommodated in the building.

I am not aware of any long delays currently being experienced in having business transacted. In fact my understanding is that apart from some disruption caused as a result of the move and some technical problems which arose at the time of transfers but which have since been resolved, there are no major arrears of work on hands.
