Vol. 405 No. 7

Written Answers. - Computer Education.

Dermot Fitzpatrick

Question:

89 Dr. Fitzpatrick asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the fact that many jobs for 15 and 16 year olds now demand some level of computer literacy, she will consider having computer education included in the primary schools curriculum.

The report of the Review Body on the Primary Curriculum, which included recommendations on information technology in primary schools, is being studied in detail. I would like to assure the Deputy that I will give the matter every consideration when the study has been completed.
