54 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Health if he expects an increase in VHI premia, arising from the commitment given in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress to allow unlimited free access to hospital treatment and consultants; if so, the percentage increase which he expects; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not anticipate that it will be necessary to increase VHI premia as a result of the change in eligibility from 1 June 1991.
