Vol. 405 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

Michael Bell

Question:

68 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance if a further tax rebate of PAYE is due to a person (details supplied) in County Louth resulting from the tax paid on his redundancy payments and earnings between 29 April 1989 and 5 April 1990; if he will qualify for any rebate from the tax year 1990-91; and when any such payment will be made.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended balancing statement for the income tax year 1989-90 was issued to the taxpayer on 1 March 1991. A cheque for £1,361.92 will be issued to him within the next ten days. As all tax deducted in 1989-90 has now been refunded there will be no further refunds due for that year.

An amended certificate of tax-free allowance for the year 1990-91 will be issued to him on 8 March 1991. Any refund due will be made by the taxpayer's employer on operation of that certificate.
