Vol. 406 No. 1

Written Answers. - Fraud Squad Investigation.

William Cotter

Question:

32 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Justice if the fraud squad investigated alleged irregularities in the affairs of a company (details supplied); whether part of that investigation was conducted abroad; if so, the countries involved; if the investigation is completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is not the practice for Ministers for Justice to make statements to the House about individual Garda investigations except in singular instances where the circumstances are so exceptional that such a course is deemed appropriate. All I propose to say in relation to the matter here is that the Garda authorities have informed me that an investigation is in progress.
