35 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice the number of drug offences or drug related offences committed in the State in each of the past five years; the number of convictions, including jail sentences, on foot of such offences; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The available statistics in relation to drug offences reported to the gardaí and convictions for such offences are contained in the Garda Commisioner's annual report on crime, copies of which may be obtained in the Oireachtas Library.
Statistics in relation to the number of offenders committed to custody for drug offences are contained in annual reports for prisons and places of detention, copies of which may also be obtained in the Oireachtas Library.
