Vol. 406 No. 1

Written Answers. - Salary Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

91 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in rectifying her Department's miscalculation of the salary of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo which occurred over two years ago; and the reason for the failure to furnish this person with regular and up-to-date returns despite repeated requests to do so.

The case in question is extremely complicated. This, allied to pressure of work arising from a large volume of special claims in 1990, led to a delay in processing. It is expected that a full statement of the up-to-date position will be issued to the person concerned within the next couple of days.

Brian Cowen

Question:

92 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Education is she will arrange for payment of incremental credit to a teacher (details supplied) in County Offaly; the reason the teacher has remained on the same salary since 1985; when she will arrange for immediate payment of arrears; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

An application for the award of incremental credit under the terms of circular letter 24/90 has been received in my Department from the teacher in question. A large volume of such applications has been received and there has been some delay in processing them. The matter will be dealt with as soon as possible.
