Vol. 406 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tourism Funding.

Bernard Allen

Question:

79 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications the moneys which will be made available to Ireland from EC Structural Funds in the years 1991, 1992 and 1993 for tourism development; and if he will outline the matching funds which will be made available by the Government in this period.

A sum of £126.715 million is available for the years 1991, 1992 and 1993 from EC Structural Funds under the operational programme for tourism which runs from 1989 to 1993.

Approximately £26 million will be made available from public sources for the programme, including £19.694 million from the Exchequer, over the next three years, while a minimum of £103 million in matching funds will be provided by the private sector over the same period.
