Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Cork Fertiliser Plant.

Peter Barry

Question:

171 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, following the decision of the ICI to get out of fertilisers, he will enter into discussions with that company to ensure the continuation of employment at the IFI plant at Marino Point, County Cork.

My Department are in contact with ICI to obtain clarification of that company's intentions regarding their fertiliser interests, including their interest in Irish Fertiliser Industries. I can assure the Deputy that in any discussions with ICI concerning IFI and their future I will have full regard to the interests of employment in IFI including at Marino Point.
