Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - Private Waste Disposal.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

212 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to introduce legislation whereby all private waste disposal operators will be obliged to have a permit; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the European Communities (Waste) Regulations, 1979 (S.I. No. 390 of 1979) permits are required by private waste disposal operators other than persons disposing of their own waste.

A waste Bill is at present being prepared in my Department to provide a modern statutory framework for all waste-related activities.
