Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght Hospital Childcare Facilities.

Nuala Fennell

Question:

235 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Health if the plans for the new Tallaght Hospital, Dublin 24, will include childcare facilities.

When the plans for the new Tallaght hospital were drawn up, special consideration was given to the needs of children, which included childcare facilities.

It is proposed that the main hospital entrance will contain a children's waiting cum play area, where parents may leave their children while visiting a patient in the hospital, or while attending the accident and emergency or outpatient's departments. This area will be supervised by staff from the hospital and kiddies toilets will also be provided.

In relation to areas where children will be treated such as in the out patient's department, accident and emergency department, radiology and physiotherapy departments, these will also have self-contained waiting areas for children which will be overlooked by nursing and reception staff.
