Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Beds Availability.

Michael Creed

Question:

45 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health if he envisages any closure of beds on a permanent or temporary basis, in any of the voluntary or health board hospitals in the Cork/Kerry region in 1991, arising from a shortfall in funding.

Madeleine Taylor-Quinn

Question:

99 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Health if he will confirm that there will be no permanent bed closures during 1991 in any health board area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 45 and 99 together.

Apart from the normal seasonal closures, the Government are committed to maintaining the level of bed availability at not less than that which was approved for 1990.
