Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Cork Harbours Shipping Dues.

Peter Barry

Question:

118 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Marine the estimates for shipping dues to be collected at (a) Whiddy oil terminal, (b) Bantry Harbour and (c) Castletownbere Harbour.

Bantry Bay Harbour Commissioners were granted full powers in October 1990. At this stage it is impossible to predict the level of throughput of shipping dues to be collected by Bantry Bay Harbour Commissioners in respect of activities at (a) Whiddy oil terminal and (b) Bantry Bay Harbour.

Harbour dues in Castletownbere for the years 1989 and 1990 were £40,993.55 and £56,531.69 respectively. It is expected that harbour dues in 1991 will be greater than those of 1990.
