Vol. 406 No. 5

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Training.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

21 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Defence whether members of the Defence Forces avail of training courses overseas; and, if so, if he will give details of same.

There is a longstanding tradition of sending members of the Permanent Defence Force to attend training courses abroad.

Attendance at these courses enables the Defence Forces to keep abreast of the latest developments in the military field and allows them to operate complex equipment to maximum benefit.

In recent years, training courses have been attended in Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.
