Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Extension.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

122 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will ensure that north west Kildare is adequately and properly surveyed in the context of changes proposed under the disadvantaged areas scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Most of north west Kildare was adequately surveyed as part of the fourth review of the disadvantaged areas. I can assure the Deputy that farmers in townlands which did not apply to be surveyed on that occasion will have the opportunity to have their areas surveyed under the appeals system which I have now set up. This system will come into operation as soon as details of the extension of areas are published by the EC Commission.
