Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Bell

Question:

163 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the full grant for the western drainage scheme was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan for work done in 1982; when the balance will be paid; the amount paid already, the location and the acreage; when the application for grant aid was received; when work was completed; and when the grant was paid.

The full amount of grant aid due to this applicant for work under the western drainage scheme on an area of 2.8 hectares at Gortmore South was paid in October 1982.

A second application in August 1982 to drain a further 1.5 hectares at Gortmore South was not approved until August 1986 due to a general suspension of the scheme during that period. Notification of completion of this work was received in September 1986 and a grant of £810 was paid in December 1986. Grant aid on part of the work under this second application was disallowed on grounds that it was purely necessary maintenance on the previous grant-aided area. On appeal by the applicant, it was agreed that some extra work had been involved and an additional £30 which, on aggregate, represented the maximum entitlement for a hectarage of 1.5 was paid in December 1990.
