Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Baldonnel Aerodrome Fire Safety Equipment.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

332 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Defence if he will make a statement on the condition of fire safety equipment at Baldonnell Aerodrome given that (1) some of the ambulances are not functioning and (2) much of the fire equipment is obsolete or parts cannot be replaced.

Three ambulances and five fire tenders are in service with the Air Corps at Casement Aerodrome Baldonnel. These vehicles are maintained in serviceable condition to ensure that a crash rescue service is provided for all flying and airfield operations at Baldonnel.

It is intended to purchase a new rapid intervention vehicle in 1991 for use at Baldonnel as part of a phased replacement programme of the existing fire tenders.
