14 Mr. Deasy asked the Taoiseach the estimated value of all agricultural imports in each of the last three years.

I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving information on the imports of food and live animals in each of the last three years.

In general it should be noted that commodity detail from external trade statistics does not include:

(a) transactions (non-dutiable) of less than £200;

(b) trade by firms operating in Shannon Free Airport; and

(c) postal packages not covered by customs entries.

As there are merely three figures involved can the Minister give me those?

The total for 1988 is £1,066.2 million, for 1989 £1,153.9 million, and for January to November 1990 £1,119.4 million.

We now proceed to deal with question nominated for priority to the Minister for Agriculture and Food.
