Vol. 407 No. 3

Written Answers. - Poultry Disease Incidence.

Joseph Doyle

Question:

32 Mr. Doyle asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of the extent of the outbreaks of the Newcastle poultry disease; the number of birds slaughtered; and if he has satisfied himself that the problems has been fully contained.

Two outbreaks of Newcastle Disease have been confirmed — one in County Cork and one in County Monaghan. A total of 83,500 birds have been slaughtered on the two farms in question.

I am satisfied that the measures taken to deal with these outbreaks have been effective.
