Question:

130 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the long delay in the payment of 1990 cattle headage and other livestock grants to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; and if he will confirm a date on which these payments will be made.

Payment to this applicant under the 1982 and 1990 cattle and equines headage and 1990 suckler cow premium schemes are being processed and will issue shortly. There is no particular delay in payment.

He has been requested to produce documentary evidence showing that his income from farming was not less than 50 per cent of his total income and when he does the question of the payment of grants to him under the 1982 suckler cow premium scheme will be considered further.

131 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the long delay in having 1990 ewe payments made to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; and if he will have the payments made as soon as possible.

There has been no delay by my Department in making payments under the 1990 ewe premium scheme. The first instalment of the premium was paid to the person named in August 1990 and the second instalment was paid in October 1990. Payment of the third and final instalment was approved by the EC on 11 April 1991 and all payments of this instalment will be made within the next two weeks.
