Vol. 407 No. 6

Written Answers. - Registration of Chiropodists.

Bernard Allen

Question:

161 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he proposes to bring in a uniform State registration system for the chiropody profession.

The question of introducing legislation to establish a statutory registration scheme for certain paramedical and other health and social service linked professions is the subject of ongoing consideration in my Department.

Chiropodists are among the professions which could be provided for under this legislation. The question of whether any given profession would choose to avail of any such scheme of statutory registration would be entirely a matter for the profession itself.
