Vol. 407 No. 7

Written Answers. - By-Laws for Dog Owners.

Richard Bruton

Question:

85 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment whether he has received proposals for by-laws under the Control of Dogs Act, 1986, from Dublin Corporation which would make it an offence for dog owners to allow their dogs soil footpaths and parks; when he will be in a position to introduce these by-laws; and if he will also sanction extra staffing to ensure their enforcement.

A draft of proposed by-laws under section 17 of the Control of Dogs Act, 1986, has been received from Dublin Corporation and is at present being examined. A decision will be notified to the corporation as soon as possible.

The question of staffing is a matter for the local authority.
