Vol. 407 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ballinasloe (Galway) Secondary School.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

89 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education when her Department will issue approval for the provision of temporary prefabricated classrooms for the Convent of Mercy secondary school, Ballinasloe, County Galway, which was promised to the school authorities as part of the overall amalgamation proposals with Garbally College; if her attention has been drawn to the present over-crowding in the Convent of Mercy; and if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that suitable accommodation must be made available at the college for at least another school year before amalgamation takes place.

The question of the appropriate arrangements to be made for the provision of suitable accommodation for the school in question is currently being considered in the context of the agreement to amalgamate the two secondary schools in the centre. It is hoped to have consideration of the matter finalised shortly.
