220 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications the present position regarding the application of a person (details supplied) in County Louth for a carrier's licence, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
On 16 August 1988, a partnership comprising the two persons mentioned by the Deputy applied to my Department for a road freight carrier's licence. Some essential information was not included with the application and, as repeated remainders failed to elicit the necessary information, the applicants were informed by my Department that if the outstanding material was not provided by a specified date, the application would be cancelled. This was done on 18 September 1990.
On 25 January 1991, one of the two persons concerned applied for a carrier's licence in his own right and International Road Freight Carrier's Licence No. 3124-91 was granted to him on 18 April 1991.
