Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Elections to European Parliament.

Michael Bell

Question:

42 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline his views on whether the current population in the Leinster constituency for EC elections merits that the number of seats should be increased to four; the plans his Department have to have this anomaly rectified; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A review of the constituencies for the election of representatives to the European Parliament will be carried out in advance of the next elections which are due in 1994 and will take account of the census of population recently taken.
