Written Answers. - Mortgage Grant and Subsidy Payments.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

141 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the non-payment of a mortgage interest subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan in respect of his house.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a mortgage subsidy from the person named at the address given. The closing date for the receipt of such applications was 6 March 1987.

Question:

142 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary was refused a new house grant in view of the fact that the finished work was never inspected; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A grant could not be allowed as, contrary to a condition of the scheme, the construction of the house was not carried out by a contractor registered for VAT. The applicant was so advised.

143 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment when a reply will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Clare for a new house grant which was posted in Lahinch on Monday, 3 December 1990.

The receipt of additional documentation requested from the applicant is awaited.
