Vol. 408 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cork City Labour Force Survey.

Bernard Allen

Question:

49 Mr. Allen asked the Taoiseach if he will outline the total workforce in Cork city as at 30 April 1991; and if he will further outline the percentage which are unemployed at present.

The latest source of information on the total labour force in Cork city is the Census of Population carried out in 1986. In April 1986 the total labour force for the area comprising Cork County Borough and its suburbs stood at 64,584 persons. Of these there were 13,034 persons unemployed representing 20.2 per cent of the labour force.
