Question:

58 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline (1) the number of persons who applied for young farmer establishment and (2) the number of cases which were successful to date.

The number of farmers who have applied for the young farmer's installation aid to date is 2,861. Of these 1,696 have been paid.

59 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a special beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

61 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of a special beef premium.

I propose taking Questions Nos. 59 and 61 together.

These applicants have already been paid their 1990 special beef premium scheme grants.

60 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the amount of grant aid due to a person (details supplied) in County Cork in respect of farm pollution control work; and when this grant will be paid.

A grant of £5,572 has been paid recently.

62 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork was refused payment of a special beef premium.

This applicant has been deemed ineligible for payment under the 1990 special beef premium scheme as he did not maintain the number of animals on which he applied for premium for two months as required under the terms and conditions of the scheme.
