Vol. 408 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Milk Agency Legislation.

Bernard Allen

Question:

15 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the Bill to set up the National Milk Agency will be introduced.

I expect that the Bill establishing the milk agency will be ready for introduction to the Oireachtas in the very near future.

Will the legislation be introduced this session, in the autumn session or next year? Furthermore will the Minister guarantee the jobs of the people at present employed in the ancillary services of the district milk boards? Will he guarantee these people jobs after this legislation is introduced, because people are extremely concerned about the effects of this legislation? The legislation has been promised for a long time.

This question refers to the setting up of the National Milk Agency and nothing else.

It is long past the time to get rid of them.
