Question:

141 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education whether her attention has been drawn to (1) a shortage of second level school places in the Tallaght area and (2) a shortage of places in Old Bawn community school and Firhouse community college, Dublin 24; if she will outline the steps she intends to take to ensure that students secure a second level place locally since student numbers in these and other parts of Tallaght are still growing among this age group of second level students.

There is no shortage of post-primary places in the Tallaght area as indicated in the following table:

There are seven post-primary schools in the Tallaght area with accommodation for 6,400 pupils. The current enrolment in the schools is 5,156 pupils.
There are also a number of post-primary schools in areas adjacent to, and accessible from, parts of Tallaght where pupils from the Tallaght area attend.
