Vol. 409 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Appointment.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

105 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Justice if he will confirm that a Garda sergeant will be appointed to Durrow, County Laois; and, if so, when.

The Garda authorities inform me that they are not in a position at present to allocate a sergeant to Durrow station but that the manpower needs of Durrow will be considered when additional sergeant appointments are made from the promotion competition currently in progress. In the meantime, the service being provided by the two gardaí assigned to Durrow station is being supplemented as necessary by the gardaí based at the divisional headquarters at Portlaoise.
