Vol. 409 No. 6

Written Answers. - Kilmacow (County Kilkenny) School.

Phil Hogan

Question:

162 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction an extra teacher for St. Joseph's national school, Kilmacow, County Kilkenny, for the school year commencing September 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy will be aware the staffing of national schools for a particular year is determined by the enrolment in the school on the 30 September of the previous year. This is in accordance with the agreement between the Government and INTO under the Programme for National Recovery.

As this school had an enrolment of 132 pupils on 30 September 1990, the authorised staffing of the school for the 1991-92 school year is principal and three assistants.
