Question:108 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Energy if his Department has examined the possibility of utilising the surplus poultry litter in the Cavan/Monaghan area as a fuel to generate electricity.

My Department has not examined the feasibility of utilising poultry litter for the generation of electricity but on behalf of my Department, Eolas has been keeping in touch with developments in the matter. Eolas will be glad to furnish information on such developments to any parties in Cavan/Monaghan who may be interested in the possibility of generating electricity from chicken litter produced in the area.
