Vol. 409 No. 8

Written Answers. - Juvenile Remand Detention Places.

Tomás MacGiolla

Question:

42 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the provision of remand detention places at Trinity House, Dublin, for those under 16 years, is extremely limited; if she has any plans to expand the number of remand detention places for under 16 year olds; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

At present there are two remand places for boys at Trinity House School, Lusk, County Dublin and 20 such places at St. Michael's Finglas, Dublin 11. Arrangements are being made at present to provide an additional 12 remand places for boys at Lusk.
