Vol. 409 No. 8

Written Answers. - Home Births.

Richard Bruton

Question:

84 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that persons seeking to have home births are being forced to pay for the midwife services out of their own pocket; and if he will consider issuing regulations under section 62 of the Health Act, 1970 to deal with the problem.

My Department are at present reviewing the overall position in relation to home births in this country in the light of various reports and research findings both here and abroad.
