Vol. 410 No. 2

Written Answers. - Transfer of Defence Force Members.

Dick Spring

Question:

239 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Defence the plans he has to transfer members of the Defence Forces stationed in Tralee, County Kerry from that location.

The pay and allowances of members of the Permanent Defence Force serving with the FCA and the Slua Muirí amounted to £14 million in 1990. While a number of the personnel concerned carry out other duties in addition to their training functions with the FCA, the question of the rationalisation of the system is at present being addressed. No decision has, however, been taken to transfer military personnel stationed at Ballymullen Barracks, Tralee.
