116 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment when it is intended that Sligo County Council will proceed with the purchase of the required land area for the new dual carriageway from Collooney, County Sligo to Carraroe, County Galway; and when it will initiate compulsory purchase orders where such are necessary.

The proposed dual carriageway from Collooney to Carraroe, just south of Sligo town, is the subject of an environmental impact statement submitted to me by Sligo County Council. Pending my decision on the EIS, it would be premature to proceed with land acquisition.
