Vol. 410 No. 7

Written Answers. - Spina Bifida Pre-School Facility.

Richard Bruton

Question:

144 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the closure of a special pre-school facility for spina bifida children at Finglas national school, Dublin 11; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Dublin branch of the Irish Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus have indicated that they plan to close the pre-school facility at Finglas due to the very small number of children now attending and the provision of equivalent services by other organisations in the Dublin area. Following detailed discussions, the Eastern Health Board have agreed to this course of action on condition that adequate alternative facilities are provided for the remaining children at Finglas.
